I started this drawing when I became extremely frustrated when I got stuck on a new
major painting--at a place that I thought would be easy. In order to prevent myself from ruining the painting, I started this drawing. Anything to stop myself from working on the painting. I originally thought this drawing would be very dark, but actually, it evolved into something rather bright and cheerful. However, you can still see the frustration in this drawing. The dividing of oneself---which is really part of frustration--- is reflected in the division of the two sides of this drawing. And I love the way the right side explodes into the frustration of the left side. This original drawing is pencil, colored pencil and plastic letters on white paper. It is signed and dated.
As usual, the camera does not pick up the detail, the fine lines, the layer upon layer of color and layer upon layer of line work on this drawing. Surprisingly, this drawing only took me about 20 hours to complete--maybe less.
The drawing is unframed and should be framed and matted to protect it.
