This painting is a memorial to my best friend from childhood. Her last years were very difficult and I think she was lost, floating adrift.  The source material for this painting comes from a childhood photograph showing the both of us by her pool.   She was floating in her little yellow boat and I was standing on the deck of the pool. It was a happy photograph, but this painting is wistful.
