This painting was done from a snapshot of my parents on Mother's Day in a local restaurant. They are almost dissolving into the background. There is a sense of uneasiness and dislocation. The starkness of the lights over their heads, the unstoppable march of glasses across the table underscore the relentless march of time. I love my mother's face in this painting.
